the CFC Worldwide Short Film Festival offers one of the largest prize
packages for short films in the world.

emerging talent. Canadian award winners are eligible for Genie Awards®,
while winners of the awards for Best Live-Action Short and Best Animated
Short become eligible for the Academy Awards®. The 2008 Worldwide
Short Film Festival proudly presents the following awards:
AUDIENCE AWARD
Telus Audience
Choice Award:
All shorts screened in the Festival are eligible for this $5,000
cash award. The winner is selected by audience members and will
be announced prior to the Festival Award Winners screening.
JURY AWARDS
The C.O.R.E Digital
Pictures Award for Best Animated Short:
For the eighth year, C.O.R.E. Digital Pictures will present
the recipient of this prestigious award a cash prize of $5,000.
The winner of this award is also eligible for Academy Award® nomination.
The Jackson-Triggs
Award for Best Emerging Canadian Filmmaker:
For the fourth year, Jackson-Triggs Vintners will present to the
recipient a cash prize of $5,000.
Best Canadian Short Film - BravoFact!: A $10,000 cash prize is presented to
the best Canadian short in Official Selection.
The Kodak Award for Best Cinematography
in a Canadian Short: For
the eighth year, Kodak will present the recipient of this award
with a digital camera package valued at $800.
Winners of the Following Awards Receive a Sony Digital Video
Camcorder:
Best Live-Action Short, Best Experimental Short.
AWARD FOR BEST PERFORMANCE IN A LIVE-ACTION SHORT
CFC Worldwide Short Film Festival is pleased to introduce the inaugural Award for Best Performance in a Live-Action
Short
Screenplay Giveaway Prize
A package of goods and services worth over $50,000 will be awarded
to the winner of the Screenplay Giveaway Prize.
Starting with post-production services at Deluxe Laboratories and studio rental from Centennial College @Wallace Studios, this package also includes film stock from Kodak, two programming passes to WIFT-T, and legal advice from Heenan Blaikie Barristers and Solicitors.
Prior to the Awards screening, we will be showing Elizabeth Lazebnik’s BELONGING (Canada, 4 minutes) – one of the 2007 WSFF Pitchin’ winners created at Charles Street Video, as well as Peter Lacalamata’s Shortsnonstop winners MOONSTRUCK and THE RED KITE.
