Midnight Mania: FREAKY

The stuff that dreams, nightmares and late night TV are made of. Weird, "please explain this to me?" head-scratchers, along with sicko heroes who sing, shoot and stab their way into our hearts and minds.

The Little Dragon (Le Petit Dragon)
Trapped in a box for 35 years, a Bruce Lee action figure busts out of his pristine packaging to take on the outside world: an adult fanboy's grungy bedroom. After years of sitting idle, he's brittle and out of shape, but the spirit of the dragon lives on.

Still Birds (Alle Fugler)
In this apocalyptic nightmare, the only remaining humans are children who have lost the ability to use language. A tyke donning a robe of plush toys holds power, and control is maintained using blasts of earsplitting noise.

Clean Carousel
A dedicated man works tirelessly to provide a spic-and-span environment for children to enjoy his carousel, but the forces of nature and human digestion are working against him. Thankfully, there's a quick and dirty solution at hand.

The Twin Girls of Sunset Street (Les Bessones del Carrer de Ponent)
Twin sisters Enriqueta and Ramoneta concoct homemade ointments, elixirs and poultices to cure whatever ails you. Their recipe is top-secret. You don't wanna know the special ingredient...

To Kill A Bumblebee (Laharog Devora)
Canaan kills a bee. It's not the last thing he will kill today. A laugh out loud shocker that shows just how awful things get when a bad decision spirals out of control.

The Tail Gunner
What do kittens dream about? Not what you think! A disturbing anime puff piece.

Beauty Plus Pity
This part-doc, part-animated apologia considers the potential for good in evil. This sing-along call to arms indicts hunters, a forgetful God, and the families that f**k us up.

Prince of Milk (Gyunyu Ohji)
Makoto kills himself after being sexually humiliated by a pack of school girls. His grudge gives rise to a serial killer who makes quick and messy work of those girls. An unpredictable song and dance about therapy, revenge, and body fluids.

Yellow Belly End
A man in a canary suit sits atop a cliff, meticulously counting the steady line of suicides. Like lemmings, they drop off the edge, and like a machine, he dispassionately tallies them up, like stitches. A mesmerizing animated brain-teaser.
